staggered
This term is used to refer to machine heads, for example, which vary in shaft length, in order to achieve the optimum string angle from the top nut to the machine heads. You can find out the varying shaft lengths of our Schaller machine heads under Products/Product help/Guidelines.
The term 'staggered' is also used to refer to pickups. In this case, the magnets jut out of the pickup housing at different heights in order to achieve an optimum spacing in relation to the individual strings, either to accommodate the curvature of the fingerboard or to ensure uniform string volume.
