"The new ""Hannes“ bridge by Schaller - best of all worlds! A splendid fusion of innovation and tone in top quality - straightforward and noble.

The basic facts:
  • by far the most comfortable bridge on the market;
  • the perfect blend of the acoustic properties of all current bridge designs;
  • impresses with detailed highs, fast attack and a well-defined, powerful and harmonic sound;
  • touch-friendly material and smooth surface with no edges • wear-free by waiving of metallic coatings at the string contact points;
  • fresh, but unobtrusive look which gives the guitar design still a more noble apparance.
  • Supplied with accessories.

Installation guides, templates, technical drawings, further information etc. can be found directly via our front page or under Products/Product help/Hannes-Bridge.

Our Schaller "Hannes" bridge can be fitted to any guitar, provided that the body is flat at the point where the bridge is to be placed. We supply the rear string anchor plate in a chrome finish as standard; however, this is available in every other finish on request at no extra cost. The pickups can be earthed via the string anchor plate if necessary.

The saddles were developed in close collaboration with Graph Tech. They are made of a special compound material. Teflon is one of the materials used in this special compound. In being a highly effective lubricant material (one of the most effective in the world), it dramatically reduces saddle-related string breakage, since no sharp edges can form on the saddles due to wear.

This patented saddle material measurably increases the instrument's sustain by up to 25% compared to brass and steel.

Your guitar will sound much more harmonious. This is characterized by singing high notes and quick response, not to mention a well-defined, powerful and even tone.

The saddles have a large surface area resting on the guitar's body, and are separated from one another by the bridge's construction. This physical difference in the saddle, compared to all other available saddles on the market manifests itself in a singificant increase in dynamic response that can be heard AND felt.

From issue 3/2010 of "Gitarre & Bass" magazine: "I certainly don't know of any bridge with such an elegant and compact construction that is so easy and comfortable to play. ... The result is a very clear, very direct tone that is unobtrusive, balanced and powerful with long, stable sustain."

Measure specifications

All measurements in the product catalogue are given in mm (inch), unless a different unit of measurement is stated.

Technical drawings and operating instructions

We do not accept any liability for the correctness of the technical drawings. Prior to installation, please measure for yourself once more, so you can consider regular manufacturing tolerances.

Please note that the technical data can also vary slightly, depending on the surface color. This is due to the difference in the galvanic coating and the galvanic layering, which depends on the color (nickel, chrome etc).

The technical drawings can be printed on one page width. Should the technical drawings not fit on one page, however, please check your print page setup (note: they can be several pages long).

From time to time, the measurements given in the file downloads on our website may differ from those given in the catalogue. Please bear in mind that the measurements given in the online downloads are current. Any discrepancies will be corrected when the catalogue is updated.

FAQ

FAQ20010 I am a left-handed person, what do I need to consider with regard to Schaller bridges? Are they all suitable for left-handers without restrictions?

All Schaller bridges are suitable for left-handed guitars, with the exception of the "Hannes" and "STM". This is due to the diagonal arrangement of parts/saddles, which unfortunately cannot be altered.

FAQ20020 What do I need to do if I install a new bridge on my guitar and the existing drill holes are too large for the bushings included with the bridge?
We recommend filling in the drill holes and then re-drilling them - this also prevents unwanted resonance and movement. Any guitar maker should be able to do this for you.
FAQ20030 I would like to exchange my old bridge for a new one from Schaller. Unfortunately there will be unsightly holes from the old bridge. What can I do?
We include e.g. two blind screws with an LP tremolo, which cover the existing bore holes neatly and professionally. With other bridges and the same dimensions, changing or replacing is no problem at all.
FAQ20040 Do you also make bridges for 12-string guitars??
Sorry, we don't.
FAQ20050 Do you also make bridges with brass saddles?

No, we don't - or rather, only in part. These have not proven their worth in our experience. The roller saddles on our 3D-4, 3D-5 and 3D-6 bridges are made of brass.

FAQ20060 How does the Schaller fine-tuner (the tailpiece with the additional screws) work?

When stringing the guitar, please tune it as usual using the machine heads. Loosen the screws on the fine-tuner to the half-way point (or to the 3/4 point). When the guitar has been tuned using the machine heads, they can be more finely adusted as follows: Tightening the screw raises the pitch; loosening it lowers the pitch.

When making the initial adjustment, please allow the screws to protrude a little more than necessary (but not far enough to allow them fall out). This means they can be tightened accordingly during playing.

If this tightening results in the screws being tightened to the limit, please loosen them again and re-tune the string using the machine heads as usual. Then fine-tune again by tightening the screws once this has been done.

FAQ20070 I've heard that the Schaller bridges (e.g. GTM or STM), as with other manufacturers, only have one size of drive-in sleeves. What can I do?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide an appropriate sleeve for every imaginable size, and have thus decided to use only one size, i.e. the size that is used most frequently in the guitar industry. In these special cases, you should therefore contact a guitar maker who can work either with changes to the guitar body or with spacer sleeves.
FAQ20080 The Schaller 3D6 bridge has a screw on the treble side - what is this for?
You can use this screw to fix the string saddles in place so that they don't knock together and rattle when aggressive playing techniques are used.
FAQ20090 Can I fit Schaller's new "Hannes" bridge to any guitar?

Our Schaller "Hannes" bridge can be fitted to any guitar, provided that the body is flat at the point where the bridge is to be placed. Please find under Products/Product help/Hannes-Bridge. All information concerning Hannes-Bridge available.

FAQ20100 How is switching done on the pickups on the Schaller Piezo bridges?
There are no specific instructions for these Schaller bridges because the connection is in fact very simple.

You need to bring each of the 6 wires together in just one cable soldered with a jack socket or plug. (6x hosts and 6x cores together):

These cables can be fed directly into an amplifier or via an internal preamp.
There is also the option of feeding and switching the wires individually. This does make the whole thing more complicated, however, and is not necessary for "normal" use.
FAQ20110 Are the sounds individually picked up per saddle with the Schaller piezo bridges?
Yes, but normally they are combined to one line in a type-related way. If required, discuss other possibilities with a guitar maker or electrician.
