Active Pickup PBA

Active pickup with built-in preamp, technically and soundwise similar to our JBA. Consists of 2 halves following the tradition of the Fender Precision Bass™*, but with a powerful boost of the entire frequency spectrum, which results in a loud, punchy sound. Ideal pickup for rock and metal. (*Fender Precision Bass is a protected trademark owned by Fender Musical Instruments Corporation).

Active pickups: power supply with commercial 9V batteries. The extremely low power consumption allows a continuous operation for several hundred hours with heavy-duty (e.g. alkali-manganese) batteries.

All Schaller pickups are manufactured to the highest quality requirements and the most demanding quality standards:

  • In order to avoid deviations, the number of coil windings are controlled with utmost care.
  • For a constant sound quality and reduced microphonics, all relevant metal parts are made of German silver.
  • To avoid microphonic problems, all coils are vacuum-potted by means of a unique method.
  • The colour selection includes black, cream and white plus the black/cream zebra combination.

Our PickupFinder with all information about musical applications, technical specifications, wiring diagrams and much more can be viewed directly on our homepage.

Measure specifications

All measurements in the product catalogue are given in mm (inch), unless a different unit of measurement is stated.

Technical drawings and operating instructions

We do not accept any liability for the correctness of the technical drawings. Prior to installation, please measure for yourself once more, so you can consider regular manufacturing tolerances.

Please note that the technical data can also vary slightly, depending on the surface color. This is due to the difference in the galvanic coating and the galvanic layering, which depends on the color (nickel, chrome etc).

The technical drawings can be printed on one page width. Should the technical drawings not fit on one page, however, please check your print page setup (note: they can be several pages long).

From time to time, the measurements given in the file downloads on our website may differ from those given in the catalogue. Please bear in mind that the measurements given in the online downloads are current. Any discrepancies will be corrected when the catalogue is updated.

Humbucking Pickups

All of our single-pole Humbucker pickups are built to fit in any common frame.
Our frames provide mounting with four height adjustment screws to prevent tilting. When winding the coils we pay special attention to the precise matching of each pair of coils – essential for ensuring 100% humbucking function.
As with our single-coil pickups, all Humbucker coils are soaked in a special process
to minimize microphone feedback.
The single-pole Humbuckers offer variable pole piece spacing at neck and bridge pickups, which permits full use of the magnetic field.
All pickups are available in Cream, Black or Cream Black (Humbuckers only).
